At the second White
Mountain PASS event of 2004 Scott hopped into the Mike
Rowe's backup car since the team's regular 84 was damaged in
the Oxford 250. Unfortunately
the #84X turned out to be quite a handful. Scott managed to
post only the 22nd fastest lap in time trials. Heat 2 saw an
8th place finish and the consi was even worse with a 9th.
Major changes of springs and sway bar before the feature
meant the 84X would be an unknown quantity, so Scott planned
to take it easy from the second last spot on the grid.
Scott ran 137 laps holding on to a car that wasn't much
better, but then tangled with Donnie Whitten and Corey
Williams in turn one and pulled off into the pits. The 21st
place finish will cost a place in the points standings.
